  • I first approached DeX about working together because I have always dreaded shopping, and I wanted to try something new, style-wise. It seems like no matter what store I go to, what section I go to, what size or style I try, nothing ever fits quite right, or makes me look how I want to look. That has led to a lot of downtrodden feelings associated with shopping, and in more recent times, I avoid shopping as much as possible. Or, I go to stores to buy copies of what I already have, so that I don’t have to try anything on. But that means I don’t get to try new things, experiment with style, or let my clothing expression change with my fluid identity.

    Enter…DeX!!! From beginning to end, working with DeX felt collaborative and empowering. During the initial consultation, it felt very healing to share about my relationship with clothes and shopping, what kind of clothes I wish I had, and my hopes and dreams for the personal shopping process. DeX made me feel heard, and hopeful! During the next step of the process, DeX took my measurements while we kept chatting about potential clothing styles. I was nervous that I would feel dysphoric or weird about my body while he was taking my measurements, but I didn’t—it felt very casual and safe.

    Over the next several weeks, while DeX was on the lookout for clothes for me, I would email him every so often when I had additional thoughts about styles I might like. He always got back to me quickly and was open to discussing as we went.

    Then came try-on day! Because of my past experiences with shopping, I had set my hopes really low—I was hoping to come out of the experience with one piece that made me feel really good, and I was worried that there would be zero. However, out of everything DeX brought me to try on, I came away with FOUR pieces that made me feel amazing! Seriously, the clothes DeX found made me look on the outside how I feel on the inside, which is very rare for me. If I could, I’d wear them all the time. After trying everything on, I kept the pieces I loved, and DeX took all the other ones away so I didn’t have to deal with them. I highly recommend working with DeX, especially if you hate shopping for clothes, or if you want to change up the style of clothes you wear and you’re not sure how to start.
